Welcome To DVDProfiles.com

Within the last month DVDProfiles.com became dormant. Reviews dried up and visitor participation was almost non-existent. While it would be easy to give up on this website I really believe the site can serve a more important function than ever before. Let’s face it: the quality of recent films from the major studios has become subpar—to say the least. Hollywood seems to have become creatively bankrupt, and its output over the past few years has reflected this, with a lot of recycled dreck. Originality has almost disappeared. I've never seen more sequels, prequels, remakes, reimaginings, or movies based on video games and comic books, etc. In fact I think there's even a movie coming out that's based on a popular TV commercial! (Kinda makes the big screen version of Gilligan's Island sound like Gone With The Wind.) It has become obvious, at least to this reviewer, that the real quality films are those coming from independent filmmakers.

This month DVDProfiles.com will be relaunching and we’ll take a good look at all the movies. We will now feature reviews of both DVDs and theatrical releases, including worthy films and presentations from television. We want to shine a light on other entertainment venues that might be worth investing your viewing time in, such as original television and made-for-cable programming. Our primary goal is still to provide quality, honest reviews and therefore we will not accept any review copies of DVDs from the studios. Eliminating the fear of loosing access to review copies from the studios assures our readers that all of the reviews on DVDProfiles.com maintain the highest levels of honesty and impartiality.

We are always open for suggestions so if you have any we would love to hear from you. Everyone has something to say about popular culture and movies in particular and DVDProfiles.com offers a great way for you to be heard.
