Almost everybody wants to know about the people behind the website and why they created it. In our case we just happen to be a bunch of regular Joes who enjoy watching movies and have spent a lot of time doing it over the years (whether it be VHS, laserdisc or now, DVD). We're always on the lookout for the best new flicks and of course notable DVD releases, with a particular interest in those movies that really make the viewing part enjoyable. In short, watching movies on DVD is a blast for us and there's probably nothing else we'd rather be doing (well, almost nothing else). The idea for this website came out of the frustration we experienced reading reviews in both magazines and online. After reading some of these online reviews and buying the recommended DVDs and home theater hardware products, we were often disappointed with the disparity between the review and the product. It was this disappointment that brought about the idea of creating this website. DVDProfiles.com will feature reviews from both our regular staff and our online community at large. There will be no term-paper size reviews on Blades of Glory, or serious techie talk about bitmapped video or dot crawl. Just the scoop on how the movies look, sound and feel in a home theater. Our staff is comprised of a few close friends who simply enjoy watching movies on DVD (and in the theater), and will help maintain this website. But the real driving force behind the site will be the online community we hope to create. The ability for the community to share their knowledge and experiences and provide assistance for other members of the community is what we believe will truly distinguish our site from the others. Since you, the community will remain the driving force behind the website, we will constantly be seeking your opinions and ideas on what direction you'd like to see the site go and we'll ask for any improvements that you think should be made. If you have any suggestions please contact us. |
